  1. It was a very difficult time for both jets and carriers. I did read that back in the 50s one USN admiral had so much trouble with the latest jets landing on his carrier that he sent them all back to their shore base.

  2. All things considered you may have to add some sort of designation to distinguish between the various aircraft given that sobriquet.
