To be fair they got it spot on with the Buccaneer. It flew so damn low it did not need guns to kill infantry. And at that hight not even the fastest jets could catch it.

The Mixmaster. Think I've got one of those in the kitchen. Actually I do know about Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster. Looks a handy aircraft for speed and range. But, as always, timing is everything. Pity it did not turn up in1942. Also I think if they lost the turrets and relied on speed like the Mosquito the top speed could mean only German jets could have caught her.

This aircraft looks like it was designed by several different design teams none of whom ever met the other teams and all tasked with designing some specific part of the aircraft. I do hope you will be looking at the Supermarine 224. It seems like Supermarine did one or two designs with the inverted gull wing and I have come across a couple of references to the original Spitfire design being like this until it was changed. There was also meant to be a naval aircraft by Supermarine which had this wing shape to shorten the landing gear just as the Vought F4U Corsair would do later.

@JohnyG29 Actually I came across the 224 in a book about the Spitfire some time ago but since then I have found some rather vague details, some of which contradict what I had read. So thank you for confirming the original details were correct.
