  1. There was some thought that the Soviets had come across the US prototype design through satellite images. The same has been said about the Sukhoi Su-25. The USAF was looking for a dedicated ground attack aircraft and an aircraft like the Su-25 was one of the two prototypes the USAF were looking at. But they went with what would become the A-10 instead. If this is true then the USAF got the much better aircraft.
