  1. One of the problems of the Korean War was that many of the veterans of WW2 were those who got sent in first. I can understand why but you would think having gone through WW2 the would be excuse any more fighting.

  2. Germany bought many British horses before the war as Britain army stopped using them. So there is a good possibility these saddles were bought at the same time.

  4. The post war US Army was regarded as the best dressed. You can see why.

  5. Volkswagen was saved after the war by a British army office. He realised the importance of Germany getting back on its feet again and got the factory working to produce cars. It got people working again and helped the German economy.

  7. This man is good. Just when you think there cannot be any more surprises out pops another little nugget for our fascination and delight. Interesting about the US soldiers riding ex German mounts and teaching them English. I remember reading about a British sergeant captured during the Battle of France. He was held with several others near a mounted German officer. Looking around he noticed the markings on one of the hooves on the officers horse and he realised they were British markings. The British army, unlike the German army, had gone fully mechanised before the war and sold off many of their horses to the German army. And this was one of those horses. So it would have been taught the commands in German.
