Exactly and the "independent" RBI who should have tried to control the money supply, did nothing. This is why Raghu Rajan, brilliant academic though he may be, was approach-wise wrong about the whole thing as far as Indian economy was concerned.

@karthika560 Increasing rates to de-liquify the economy is a valid move though but credit supply dries up too. He probably missed the balance and was likely late with his moves, not reading signs early enough.

Now if this gentleman was otherwise brilliant at taking brilliant decisions (for India, that is) then he wouldn't be reduced to abject kvetching and trying to stick the adjective "foolish" to the Monetization plan.... it doesn't work this way anymore. Throwing enough mud and hoping some will stick, might have worked in 'slow-information' pre-social media, newspaper and 2 bulletin-a-day TV news era. Now something like this has a lifetime of few minutes... It's funny and sad at the same time when dinosaurs try to stay relevant.

Hit the nail on the head. Whatever may be BJP/NDA crimes, the thought of this lot ever coming back to power is enough to cause nightmares, especially if the Family kids are still around.
