Anyways, he is most truthful (one feels) when he says it is a matter of survival... but saying this is a stratagem too. He is a survivor and all that goes with it in terms of cunning, shrewdness, opportunistic... He sounds a bit like a jilted lover. BJP should woo him back and give him a national level role - BJP is not a dynastic party and he can make an lateral entry. He will appreciate it.
