I listened to the whole address posted on PRINT - Having not studied RSS in any depth or listened to RSS Chief's past speeches proved to be both a handicap and a blessing.
Selection of topics does suggest that RSS is quite worried about the perception being created by unfriendlies about RSS, the Hindu and RSS' idea of India, and that this whole speech,
1. is directed at unfriendlies' respective internal & external/international audiences, wanting to 'set the record straight'
2. is almost prescribing a communication pack for the friendlies (more than any way-of-life type guidance...)
3. feels like a direct rebuttal to Imran's recent pre-US & US speeches/conversations -
3.a) If you clear your mind and just focus on all Imran has said (including in local Pak media) & RSS' Chief's speech, the rebuttal premise is not far fetched
3.b) If above is true, then think about where RSS Chief positions himself as vis-a-vis other nation's leaders, & what he himself is, in context of India's representative top leadership...
Anycase, one thing is certain - RSS Chief's matter-of-fact clarity can only come from deep/regular 'manthan', combined with acute awareness of external perception and emerging realities. And that, the RSS Chief very much wants to reset, for want of a better word, the narrative.
(By the by, Yesterday's (9 Oct) TOI (syndicated) Daily Crossword's 31-Across clue solution is "Imran" - doesn't this say a lot about effectiveness of Pak PM's international outreach? This whole consent manufacturing by India (and Pak) media is distressingly funny... )
