@PRINT Telegraph is headline-mongering Ferguson Model's code is badly written but his issues were not calibrating the old model & making assumptions that have not borne reality. For Lockdown scenario (scenarios are NOT forecasts), he estimated 5 days doubling rate, it has been ~3; thus deaths have been higher in UK. Re Programming language used: His was in Fortran which has been the goto language for engg & sci in the past, 1950 to 80s (some even now). Now, they are writing the calibration model ( to calibrate Ferguson's Fortran model ) in more efficient C++ and using latest pandemic data, not so much disproving his model - here's one place where they are doing it --> https://github.com/mrc-ide/covid-sim/issues/194 (by the by, much of code written in academia is atrocious by industry standards)

@PRINT Just on the Sweden vs UK, they are not comparable really. Just 2 metrics: 1. Population density of Sweden is 1/12 of UK, 2 Deaths per million population is in the same order (360 vs. 520 for UK; Sweden heath system is arguably much better than UK,). We can keep things, not simplistic, but at least simple...
