Regarding the storm shadow attacks, that's the same thing that preceeded the attacks in Kharkiv and Kherson. Ukraine destroyed Russia's ability to supply its troops. Russia learned to move its depots out of HIMARS range. Now, Ukraine has the range to again thin out Russian supply logistics.

Prigozhin is horrible, sanctioning the war crimes committed by Wagner. However, he's more sane and has some grasp on the reality of Russia's situation in Ukraine.

Interestingly, the F-16s weren't announced, and indeed weren't feasible, until Ukraine's air defenses relative to Russia's cruise missile and drone attacks were strong enough to prevent most attacks from hitting intended targets. The advantage the Mig-29 has over the F-16, in the Ukrainian theater, is that the Migs don't require clean, smooth runways and can operate off highway airstrips and remain dispersed. F-16 would be very vulnerable on the ground as they will operate out of known, improved airfields. Now, with Russia having wasted most of its strategic missile and drone capacity and with Ukraine having strengthened air defenses, it's feasible that Ukraine can protect whatever airfields that F-16 might operate from.

@dtly50 - you heard the thing about Russian soldiers, in Russia, saying that checkpoint guards stole the drones they were transporting? You're absolutely right. Corruption is business as usual. Perun did a good story on the Russian military last year. Basically, such theft is simply viewed as part of their pay structure....until whatever was stolen is actually needed for a war which nobody expected to fight.
