They did build it fairly quickly for how big it is and I'm sure a good bit of budget was siphoned off via corruption.

11:43 Well, it happened. The Russian military is now the 2nd most potent military inside Russia... What will be REALLY hilarious is if the Freedom fighters end up bridging that crossing, something that Russia hadn't been able to do in Ukraine without HUGE cost to men and equipment.

14:46 the important takeaway here is that Russia has much less strategic long range capability to take out any airbases that F-16 might end up at. Unlike the Mig-29, which can operate off a highway improvised "airfield" (as can the Gripen), the F-16 wants a nice, clean runway and tarmac. This requirement would've made F-16 impractical and very vulnerable if Russia had significant strategic capability to strike improved airbases that F-16 would be stationed at. Now that Russia has expended a significant amount of its stockpile and Ukrainian air defenses are nearing 100%, it makes the F-16 much more viable since it's unlikely that Russia can destroy them on the ground or disable the airbase facilities and runways. Gripen is still needed as it can carry the longer range Meteor air to air missile to counter Russian air patrols lobbing long range R37 missiles and as a platform to launch Storm Shadow air to ground missile, which the F-16 cannot (Ukraine is currently using it's few remaining Su-24s to air launch the Storm Shadow).

Re, Russian Freedom fighters There were comments from pro Russian sheep happily talking about how all the freedom fighters had been killed by Russian forces that responded, one flatly telling me that none of the freedom fighters escaped to Ukraine when I suggested that these incursions into Russia could continue indefinitely with Ukraine providing sanctuary for the fighters.

I agree. Had we, in the US, and you Brits upheld our responsibility to protect Ukraine's territorial integrity, under the Budapest Memorandum, in 2014, this would've been much cheaper, much less destruction, and much less loss of life than what we're dealing with by having waited so long to help Ukraine defend themselves.

Re, Ukrainian drones That's even more hilarious that Ukraine didn't risk civilian casualties with impotent payloads but just told these wealthy government insiders that Ukraine has their number on speed dial. It's entirely possible that partisans sent up the drones OR that the first border incursion worked as a distraction to allow special operators to enter Russia.

8:55 and, yet that entire enemy threat is caused only by Russia being in Ukraine evaporates overnight if Russia leaves Ukraine. It's like saying a thief should be defensive and fearful of police because they might try to remove him from a house he's broken into. Yet, if the thief doesn't break into any place, then there's nothing to fear. Ukraine is fighting Russia because Russia invaded Ukraine. If Russians leave Ukraine, Russia is no longer an invader and then had no need to fear Ukrainian attacks. Worse, what the idiot on the Russian talk show was describing is what Russia HAS BEEN PUTTING UKRAINIAN CIVILIANS THROUGH.
