  2. There were a notable amount of communists in the USA after WWII, hippies loved the idea of communism. During the Cold War, there were a number of high profile cases of Americans getting paid for secrets that they sold to Russia. Since Russia currently has no ideology, some Americans, like Carlson seem to be applying their own ideologies to Russia just to have some example of what a "better America" would look like. The reality, which Carlson interview showed, is that whatever Pro-Russian Americans are thinking about Russia is wrong.
