  1. The NATO expansion thing is ridiculous. Ukraine was never trying to join NATO. They were trying to join the EU which they didn't even qualify for because of budget and corruption issues that didn't meet EU standards, although Ukraine has been trying to remedy those issues. Russians talk of NATO expansion as though NATO is absorbing countries against their will because that's what Russian government officials understand as that's how the Soviet Union was formed.

The US and UK failing to honor our agreement in the Budapest Memorandum in 2014 when Russia invaded Ukraine, besides being bad for Ukraine, also sent a clear message to Israel, India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Iran that "security assurances are worthless and the only real way to prevent an invasion is to have a nuclear deterrent. As for people who say the Ukrainians wouldn't have been able to launch the Soviet missiles because of launch control security systems that were designed to confirm Moscow orders, Ukraine didn't need the missiles. They could put the warheads on their own missiles with their own launch and guidance controls.
