We learn slow. The USA spent 20 years watching the Taliban use Pakistan as a safe zone. Now, Russia is doing the same thing and the US is forcing Ukraine to make the same mistake.

@JakeBroe - This is the other reason that Ukraine had to go south towards Crimea. Besides needing to cut Crimea off, if Ukraine went east as a main push (as some short sighted people like Combat Vet Reacts) suggested, Russians would've just used Russia as a safe zone and pummeled the Ukrainian offensive. As it was it got mired because nobody thought about how to clear a minefield without air superiority, but the Ukrainians made some progress and got hurt but weren't pummeled. As you've pointed out, Russia isn't going to start WWIII in their failed attempt to capture Ukraine. With Ukraine having a successful strategic bombing campaign, Russia is already used to things going boom in Russia.

@sniperboom1202 - You said "US troops had full authorization to go after Taliban that fled into Pakistan." Then you said, "US troops just couldn't cross the border into Pakistan." Those 2 statements are mutually exclusive. Only 1 can be true. So, like I said, and as you agree, the US allowed the Taliban to use Pakistan as a safe zone.

@Hillary4SupremeRuler well, the Republican Party did try to block aid to Britain during WWII. So, you bring up another point about how we learn slow.
