Zalensky cabinet meeting: We can't fight Black Sea Fleet conventionally. We need to find someone who is an expert in unconventional boats with stealth and capable of carrying a good payload a long distance... Get me the Columbian Cartels on the sat phone!

That landing ship was just undergoing an upgrade. It received the Kuznetsov propulsion package.

2:12 Normal damage from sailing in rough seas, according to Russian news sources. What do you mean, "the sea was calm?"

The thing is, while Russia is killing lots of grain (and that grain was VERY evil! - "Generation Kill" reference), Ukraine is hitting targets with military value. I mean...I guess it's a net positive that Russia only used it's long range munitions on military targets in Ukraine during the first few days of the war.

The conspiracy theorist in me is VERY skeptical that a speedboat drone has the range or ability to travel undetected past the naval bases in Crimea that Russia values so much. I mean, the US Coast Guard can find the drug running semi submersibles. I'm really wanting to say that these drones are being deployed out at, or over, the Black Sea by 3rd parties. That would make it more difficult for Russia to know where they're coming from. Either way, Russia said, "Bring it!" and Ukraine said, "A'ight!" Russia, 2nd strongest military in Ukraine, is striving to be the 3rd strongest navy in the Black Sea.

@mrbillmacneill - have you seen the things the cartels have tried? An efficient primary engine is definitely doable, but that isn't helping it avoid detection. The other thing about boats is that there's 2 ways to get efficiency. You get the hull out of the water by going fast enough (a planing design) or you go very slow (a displacement design). Going slow, with an efficient primary engine also has the added problem that the boat is observable for much longer. I mean sure. It's POSSIBLE Ukraine is getting these things past the aerial reconnaissance, submarine sonar listening, and surface ship/coastal radar surveillance. It's just very unlikely unless almost EVERYONE in every Russian detection point along that boat's path is asleep on the job.
