  1. 25:38 re, Ukraine and NATO Pointless talk. Ukraine can't join NATO while it's at war. I'm not sure exactly how "at war" is defined in the NATO Charter, but either the charter needs to be rewritten, which is very unlikely. Or, NATO members would have to agree that Ukraine isn't at war, it's merely participating in a special military operation and none of Ukraine's territory is occupied by a foreign power because all Russians are really Ukrainian... Or some other such wink, wink diplomacy to get around the part of the charter that prevents a nation from joining NATO while it's at war. This is why Putin will now want the war in Ukraine to drag on until his death. If Putin keeps Ukraine at war, he prevents Ukraine from joining NATO. He probably now realizes that Ukraine will join NATO if a peace treaty is signed. This is also why Ukraine cannot take a slow, fight for years approach to militarily evicting Russia from occupied Ukrainian territory.

  2. A problem some of us in the West have is watching Ukraine take Western equipment and Western trained troops and fuck around with Soviet battlefield tactics instead of using Western tactics. Going slow isn't necessarily a good thing. It gives Russia time to react. Because of their top down leadership, going slow benefits Russian command style. My hope is that this "broad front" Soviet style offense, light attacks instead of massed firepower, is Ukraine trying to draw down the Russians' supply situation, the way they did with Kherson, before making a massed push to affect a breakthrough on a position that isn't able to fight effectively due to ammo shortage.
