Probably the same military experts who tried to force Western military tactics on Ukraine without ever considering how to clear the world's largest minefields without air support.

@Juntasification it's not about resources. Russia has more natural resources than it has population to extract. The real reason Russia entered Ukraine was a combination of people and economic and industrial capacity. Putin wants to build a Russia that is strong enough for the West to have to heed or fear it. This is rooted partly in Putin being dismissed as if he wasn't the leader of a "mighty nuclear world power" when Dubya invaded Iraq after Putin warned him not to. Russia had a demographic crisis and Putin is well aware of it. He put in place policies to encourage child birth even before men started leaving and being eliminated during the "special military operation". Putin wanted the Ukrainian population. Then, without the West interferring (as we didn't interfere in 2014), Putin could use Ukraine and its people to strengthen the Russian military so that Russia could then test NATOs resolve in defending other countries that Putin considers part of Russia (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Germany).

I can't remember if it was Jake or Ryan McBeth (before he turned to a crap sellout), but there is a component in the warhead that has to be maintained, replaced every so often, otherwise the warhead can't arm because the material in whatever part degrades and won't allow the warhead to arm when signaled to. If whoever was handling the funds allocated to maintain the missiles pocketed the money thinking they'd never be used (like the many tanks with fake ERA blocks, no anti missile system, etc), then those missiles and warheads might not work. Iirc, the US just had a couple misfires of submarine launched missiles. And that's from a country who is maintaining its equipment...somewhat.

#DictatorProblems Be sure that his advisors told him it would take 3 days to secure Kyiv and that the military wouldn't fight and the citizens would welcome Russian liberation. You tell the dictator what he wants to hear or you get attacked by a widow.

The issue is that Ukraine is getting the trickle supply. If they do something Biden can't stomach (and he's a pussy, was against the Osama raid), then Ukraine may find that their supply from the US dries up. That 7 month period where the Republican Party was assisting Russia by preventing supply to Ukraine was very costly for Ukraine. So, the target would have to be worth more than all the future potential supply for it to be worth "asking forgiveness" for such a strike in a verboten area.
