  2.  @jounik  that's true. For "Russians" or proper Russians, "Russia" is just Moscow and St Petersburg. Really, that ought to be all Russia ends up with when the other regions that Russia has subjugated and taken advantage of finally realize it and get fed up.

I can't imagine that the outlying regions will continue to tolerate being the backs on which Moscow and St Petersburg ("Russia" proper) survive in relative prosperity. Eventually, Putin will no longer be around and, as with Venezuela when their charismatic strong man dictator passed on, Russia will have a governance succession crisis. Putin, while trying to make Russia great again has absolutely irrevocably damaged Russia more than any outside factors.

What people like you fail to understand is that nations formerly subjugated by the 2nd Russian Empire (aka Soviet "Union"), flee to the West seeking protection from the aggression of Russia.
