The business looses more than just the profit per car. You loose the revenue but you still have to pay the wages and all the expensive equipment keeps depreciating. Only the parts cost are not lost of you didn't make the car.

@anthonyxuereb792 Pretty much every service/maintenance contract excludes reimbursement for damages due to loss of revenue or profit. You may get the spare part for free but not lost revenue.

Maybe they have many different variants and not many machines per variant. Then it can be costly to have a spare of everything.

What's the upside of being talked about when you only have a handful of customers that you already know very well and they already know you. The only upside I can see if they can attract more investors into their stock.

Isn't that great? You sell overpriced spares on customer's inventory instead of you own inventory.

Private jet is more realistic. We hear Tesla and SpaceX used Elon Musk's private jet several times to get time-critical spare parts.

Well Americans hold critical IP and as soon as you have a US-sourced part in your machine it becomes subject to US export control. The ASML "source" comes from a US-subsidiary (ex Cymer) so it's not like ASML has a lot of choice.
