This is actually not a Chinese agent trying to find the people. This is the Siberian agency, who already has contacts in China, trying not to let the supply chain go. This reminds me of Indonesian domestic workers as well. The same Indonesian "agency" in HK, teaches them, and they make them pay for the course. And once finish, they take a cut of their earnings, to pay back for the accomodation during their training. And then they get the job. In reality, there is no need to train them. Either they know, or they do not know. It is because the clients often send back the ones who do not know chinese cuisines or culture. So much so that, this kind of "middle man" started... And because some people did that once. A LOT of people assume, this is how you do business. And the way they train them, violates a LOT of laws !!!

@sherbetlemons : That is a very bad accent. Do you know why this TV presenter went to HK to do this ? He is a British TV presenter... and he went to the old BRITISH Commonwealth countries. That is BRITISH Commonwealth countries. NOT American Commonwealth countries... And never mind the fact that, these kids do not speak in good simple English. They are picking up BAD habits as well from BAD American English. I think there is something very wrong here.

The boy asked him a simple question on past tenses.... Should he be asking such questions at that level and at that age ? Answer is a "no"..... And until people in HK, look outside of their "normal"... They will actually raise themselves, out of poverty.... Because you are giving him the demands, he will supply his bad level of English classes....

I do not think that it is altogether wrong.. but... The education sector is meant to progress always... The British left a working framework, for HK to prosper it. It is just that, SOME people.. is making a lot of fuss... and deviating it. So if these people exists, and deviate. Then normally, policies should stop them from deviating SO much that.... People cannot survive. Imagine his parents, saved ALL those money.... and put it into the savings account. They would still be able to survive for a while. You know ??? Some parents are too stubborn. Even if JJ just sings, every single day, in his own home, with a karaoke machine. He will better his English speaking. Why do more parents NOT do THAT ???

Get a scholarship, then study abroad, and then earn money, and then open a business back home ? What do you expect will happen ? Like the Indonesian women in HK ? The earnings... when HK was poor. My parents were poor back then... and we still paid for a maid. The earnings which we did, enabled us to build our own wooden house to a concrete house. And then, the earnings from that Indonesian woman.. she could have opened a business.... You know ?? Reduce having children first.. and then rebuild. This should have been the way. Not this way !!!

@cushion1357 : Even though this is how it is in HK... I will tell you.. by stressing this much... they are also failing as well. Cos the brain does not work that way.... This is why it is not good. Cos when it comes to the real life, you still cannot do it. So what, if you passed ? The next level up, you cannot sustain the level.... Do you see this chicken and egg situation ? Is this why so many people in HK, are actually very very "quiet" ??? They do not even know how to do that... "push and pull" conversation.... This is quite bad.

So why doesn't HK government, change more schools to be compulsory in teaching English, or to achieve a higher level of English, in order to compete ?? Why then make the children spend more abroad ?? Is this necessary ?

Er.. This is NOT how teachers work, and not how tutors work in the UK. Teachers, teach you concepts and a subject. This is true. TUTORS... work alongside you... and point out your mistakes.. and MAKE you COMPREHEND the subject that you are learning... and why. This is why, the questions in the UK, tend to be asking you the "reasons" why something happens... and not just a pure answer A or B.

This is really bad. Cos when the British had the city, all classes were taught in English as a medium, and this allows you to listen, and to actually read, and absorb the tone, and the way the language is. So now, it is reverted back to Cantonese, which is a LOT easier.. but then again, the city is still a financial city. All I see is that, the "celebrity teacher" is more like an educational psychologists... And not a real teacher. Cos real teachers, would use actual techniques which makes you learn. This way is not good.... I rather encourage children to learn and to listen to music, and learn as they go. To learn the tone, the mannerism of the language.... This is a lot better.

Well, this is the thing, so the education bureau kept changing the syllabuses, and the formats. And to the extent that they do not want to actually want actual and real academics to be in universities. Cos then the university is just a mere salary earner thing for them. Is this right ? This is why so many publications are sub-par... There should be both uni grad's companies, as well as normal non-uni grad companies, to be both earning similarly... And they should place a statistic distribution to normalise them all.

If you think about it, all of these students, are helping this man, raise HIS child... and not the other way around. i.e. Raise children to be helpful and useful to society etc.

If the chances of him not getting in any way, then he may as well enjoy his teenage years... You know what I mean ? It is the expectation.. which is hurting him a lot more. This is why the journalists is saying that... "he seems to enjoy sports"..... Actually, there are a lot of sports jobs, which does not require such exams.
