Right, so how is this Labour's fault? Who has been stirring hate and division for years?

So what we’re learning is: the Far Right are more susceptible to lies, misinformation and fake news than other people. Must be because they’re all thick-as-💩. Yeah, that’s probably it.

@cha9165 Labour are processing asylum claims. That's the right thing to do. Unlike the Tories who cut funding, cut the assessors, stopped asylum seekers from being able to work, put them in costly hotels. NB the large majority of asylum seekers are eventually assessed as being genuine refugees. Were you aware of that?
1
@england1413 It should be clearly understood asylum seekers do not have to seek asylum in the first safe country they arrive in. Most do - nearly 90% of refugees are in the adjacent country to their country of birth.
1
@ChrisMurray-iw9ij Yeah Labour should've sorted out the UK's problems in a month.
1
@deidremulroe2461 Huh? The large majority 99.9% do respect the laws and culture. Just like 99.9% of all people respect the laws and culture.
1
@bassetdad437 Rubbish. Labour are very different to the Tories. How have you not noticed?
1
@england1413 Are you simple?
1
@bvigor Rubbish. The Tories had an 80 seat majority. The Rwanda scheme was a gimmick.

86% of refugees and displaced peoples remain the neighbouring country from the one they fled, ie remain in developing countries. France received three times as many asylum applications as the UK last year. People stop as soon as they feel safe. But the people making their way to England and those who specifically wish to come to the UK do so because they have ties to this country, because they either served with our military, as with the case for people from Afghanistan, or have family members here or speak the language because of our colonial history, or have other ties or kinship or history here. So there are people with legitimate ties to the UK, there is no good reason why they should have their claims assessed in France if they do not wish to do so. It doesn’t work for us to say to the French that given we a geographically situated slightly to the west of you, none of these refugees are our responsibility and they are all on you, because France can say the same thing and then Italy can say the same thing and then the entire refugee protection system will crumble.

Poverty is a better indicator of criminality than race. Inequality is a better indicator. Poor education is a better indicator. Lack of mental health services are a better indicator. They all matter more than race. Where's the patriotic protest to fix all of those things?
1
@Nickel1147 What a simplistic, infantile take.
1
@Nickel1147 Uneducated people are far more likely to vote Tories and Reform or join far right groups. Why do you think that is?
1
@Nickel1147 Thanks for the editorial advice. Very useful.
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 Inequality is one of the most serious issues facing the country. The problems is billionaires are paying millionaires to convince people like you immigrants are the problem.
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 The most serious issue is catastrophic climate breakdown. I'd be shocked if you didn't think climate change was a hoax.
1
@Nickel1147 I didn't make excuses for "slaughtering little girls". I made the point that race is not the best indicator of criminality.
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 Poverty will grow massively in the next 10 years because the system guarantees a flow of wealth away from the middle class, increasing inequality. That means that your grandchildren will live in desperate poverty. Inequality is definitely one of the most serious problems facing this country.
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 What do you mean by "owning a definition"?
1
@Nickel1147 Glagow was the murder capital of Europe. Race is not the indicator of criminality. I know you want it to be, but it is far more complicated than that.
1
@Nickel1147 London knife crime is down compared to 2019/2020. NHS figures show that in Cleveland and the West Midlands police areas more hospital admissions for stab wounds were recorded than in London when compared to overall population sizes.
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 It is true measuring poverty is difficult. The Faculty for Public Health have an interesting paper on measuring poverty. But my point still stands about growing inequality in this country, thanks to decades of neoliberalism.
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 Real wages have stagnated, and by rising inequality as wage gaps between higher and lower paid individuals have moved to permanently higher levels than the 1960s and 1970s. Young people can't afford housing. Debt levels are through the roof. Yet the rich are getting richer and buying up all the assets.
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 According to NHS hospital admissions for assault with a knife or sharp object, about 10.1 people in London for every 100,000 residents were admitted to hospital after being assaulted with a knife or sharp object in 2022-23 – up slightly on 2021-22 but down from 12.3 in 2019-20. Cleveland had 12.9 stabbings for every 100,000 people, and the West Midlands 13 for every 100,000.

@yorkshiremgtow1773 How did your nephew buy a flat in Leeds? Did his parents give him money?
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 The super wealthy make millions in passive income per week. What do you think they do with that money? They can't possibly spend it all. They only spend a fraction of their income, unlike ordinary people. The super wealthy buy assets. Ordinary people spend must of their income. Later in life ordinary people they often have to sell the assets they've accumulated, to downsize or to pay for care home fees
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 Your stats are approximately 10x higher than the actual figure.
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 Debt levels are through the roof. Go look up the stats if you don't believe me.
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 "my stats are 10x higher than the actual figure: which stats?" Knife wounds.
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 Well done to your nephew and his GF. He was lucky to be able to live at home and save. Have you seen the ONS stats for ratio of median house price to median gross annual earnings? In Yorkshire in 2002 the ratio was 3.54. In 2023 it is 6.08. In London, the figures are 6.9 and 12.66.
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 Have you not noticed you're poorer since 2008?
1
@yorkshiremgtow1773 Looks like YT deleted my answer to "what would you do if you were in government, regarding wealth?"
1
Rubbish. The plutocrat right wing press push a narrative that is not correct, but is compelling: ‘You are poor because of the immigrants, who occupy your homes and your job,’ when it is because of inequality, because the rich and the children of the rich, who are the ones who take the money, not the immigrants.
