Is this meant to be sarcasm?

@trevorpeck3572 GBeebies has the most ignorant, simplistic, biased takes in UK media.

@trevorpeck3572 They probably won't be assessed as refugees then. However over 70% of asylum seekers are assessed as genuine refugees. And asylum seekers only make up 9% of net migration. You'd think it was a 100% by GBeebies' coverage.

@trevorpeck3572 There are "no proper channels" in countries like Iran, Afghanistan, Eritrea, Sudan etc. If there are - tell me what they are. Crime is decreasing in modern cities. I don't know enough about Sweden to comment. You should be more concerned with the people arriving in private jets than small boats. The UK take a miniscule amount of refugees compared to similar countries. Why aren't you concerned with legal immigration which is 92% of net immigration? BTW asylum seekers don't have to seek asylum in the first safe country they reach according to the 1951 Refugee Convention.

@trevorpeck3572 Do you believe in the Great Replacement Theory?

@lisamills161 It's incredible to think someonebelieves GBeebies provides "intelligent commentary on topics that affect this country without any bias or discrimination." The entire premise of the channel is to be biased.

@trevorpeck3572 Are you talking about "legal" / planned immigration such as people on work / student visas or "illegal" (asylum seekers, which is actually legal) migration?

@trevorpeck3572 Why do you think it is mostly young males making the journey? Because it is so dangerous and difficult. 88% of refugees end up in their neighbouring country. Multiculturalism works - just look at the cosmopolitan cities like London, New York, Sydney etc which generate so much money, culture, where real estate prices are so high, where people want to move to.

@trevorpeck3572 Where do you live? In London?

@trevorpeck3572 86% of refugees and displaced peoples remain the neighbouring country from the one they fled, ie remain in developing countries. France received three times as many asylum applications as the UK last year. People stop as soon as they feel safe. But the people making their way to England and those who specifically wish to come to the UK do so because they have ties to this country, because they either served with our military, as with the case for people from Afghanistan, or have family members here or speak the language because of our colonial history, or have other ties or kinship or history here. So there are people with legitimate ties to the UK, there is no good reason why they should have their claims assessed in France if they do not wish to do so. It doesn’t work for us to say to the French that given we a geographically situated slightly to the west of you, none of these refugees are our responsibility and they are all on you, because France can say the same thing and then Italy can say the same thing and then the entire refugee protection system will crumble.

@trevorpeck3572 Living in the Fens, you'd have no idea about the benefits of multiculturalism. Have you travelled?
1
@trevorpeck3572 Okay, so how have you not observed the benefits of multiculturalism?

Yeah the UK would be less divided and hateful.
