@berryreading4809 Good rant but 2 things. I disagree re simple land grab. You're forgetting about the biolab angle. And 2. Ye gods paraghraphs! That took some reading but again. Good rant and I agree with most of it.

@jamesmorrow1646 zelensky has huffed coke, spewed propaganda and stuffed offshore accounts with billions of dollars worth of aid and Ukraine taxes over the years. All the while the young, and now increasingly old, of Ukraine die in trenches so he, Zelensky, can continue to be a puppet in a proxy war. Don’t be such a kool aide swiller. Zelensky is the same kind of kleptocrat as Putin. However Zelensky has also allowed literal goosesteppers on his watch. And is compromised to foreign powers. And embezzled. And ordered political assassinations. And banned free media. And banned all political opposition. And discriminated against religion. And so much more naughty stuff. But melts like James chant slava Ukraini, change an avatar and think that justifies the above because hur dur Russia invaded Ukraine without reason let alone justification! I think all rationale and objective people should be able to agree that there are reasons and indeed justifications to Russias actions. Zelensky’s? Hmmm. Reasons for sure but little justification I can see other than grandchessboard stuff and he’s but a pawn on the board while Biden is the Dithering King.

@thilli1859 dont be so opaque. Things have changed since Russia attempted to join NATO and was rejected. Almost as if NATO would have missed a Russian Bear to justify it’s own existence or something. Then there’s the whole not one inch past East Berlin assurance given by multiple heads of state to then Russian head of state Michail Gorbichev (probably spelt that wrong). I personally think it would have being a long term masterstroke to let the Ruskies into the Western circle via NATO. China would have no serious military buddy to be the strong arm to their paper tiger economic shenanigans currently. But given how things have turned out with western institutions I’m all for yeeting NATO at this point.

I’m not so sure. True the Ruskies know they can handle a Biden admin but I personally think they’d prefer to deal with Trump as some kind of deal would be thrashed out that the Ruskies would find agreeable given Trump is a proven deal maker. And at this stage of the conflict I think it’s fair to say Russia is keeping it’s gains. Heck. With Bakhmut falling there’s not much between the RF forces and reaching much more open country and then the Dniepe River. So IMO it’s kinda in Ukraine best interests to get round a table before they find themselves negotiating over a bifurcated country. Rather than just the bits Russia has to barter with presently. Contentious maybe but I think it a rational take.
