  1.  traybern  Probably assumed they were dummies. Some stores can't afford to have functioning cameras and put up fake cameras. There are also real cameras that look like the fake ones. And the modern camera design is intended so you can't know which way it is pointed.

In 2023 Macy’s is focusing more on selling toys instead of the valuable items they are known for. Because they can’t afford the mass retail theft and can’t afford to have more cameras let alone working ones.
