  1. The easiest is to not involve the state in any relationship/marriage. No laws to extract from exes or to scam brideprices. If bride price is given and a law mandated to have it returned upon divorce - the female would spend it or hide it and it wouldn't matter if the court mandated her to pay back the price, as she'd never do that any way.

  2. unfortunately wasn't banned, just limited in very few areas of China. Am assuming it's official policy to end the practice slowly to minimize the outrage from people that was extorted huge amounts from these lovely ladies and their families.
