Thank you for introducing Shakespeare North Playhouse - in Prescot, Knowsley Liverpool City Region. I knew nothing of this project. Prescot is one of the most depressed areas of the North West. It was the HQ of BICC and in the past a centre of watch making. The connection with Shakespeare is that the Earl of Derby of Knowsley Hall was WS's patron. A suggestion is made that WS visited to perform there. I hope it can help generate renewal in this ancient town.

Twaddle. Why on Earth would third parties write this stuff except for a living. Shakespeare came from an established educated family in Stratford u Avon. His father was a Bailiiff of the Town corporation and governor of the Grammar School. William certainly would have had a free place there. An education in those days involved knowledge of reading and writing in Latin and Greek and would have given WS an extensive literary education. There was little work for a jobbing actor and playwright there. Seasonal work and visits to London was the only way to do so. He stayed more often with his brother Edmund in Southwark, who is interred in what is now the cathedral. This was ideal for the playhouses. WS would not have to live in London full time, returning home to be a family man. The Shakespeares knew Robert Harvard as they were involved with the local administration, the parish and the school together. We have their signatures on attendances records. Robert Harvard married a lady from Stratford .. woww, what a coincidence!! . One of their children was John Harvard, but that is another story.

@richardgallagher4880 I was referring to the economy. I was brought up in Huyton and we shopped in Prescot a bus ride away. in later decades I was involved in the redevelopment of the shopping area.
