  1. Are we going to demand reparations from the Italians for the Britons enslaved by the old Romans? Am I going to demand reparations from the (now rather well-heeled) Norwegians for the activities of their ninth-century ancestors in the Scottish Isles? Are the people of the south-west of England to demand reparations from the Maghreb nations for the enslavement of two million people kidnapped and carried off to North Africa? What about the Arabs? A lot of them are fairly solvent. They enslaved more West and Central Africans than anyone, except possibly the Portuguese. There are very few African-Arabs, you may notice. What's the reason for this? I wonder.
