@Hansen934 Just look at Islamic countries for how it works.

@aaront7077 It has been based on Judeo Christian values but in recent history, humanist values have given people more freedoms from the theistic laws.

@hello150 We are not a secular nation as we have a head of state who is the Head of England's official Church. We have unelected bishops in the House of Lords affecting our laws. There is still legislation that states that schools should have prayer of a Christian nature in state schools. Lots of official state occasions have a religious element. It's getting better, but we're not there yet.

Sharia law isn't legally binding, but religions always try and make others have to adhere to their beliefs. Religious beliefs should be kept personal.

@paulwareing1859 Sharia Law Courts, Jewish Law Courts and Christian ones are not legally binding. They are religious courts that have no basis in UK law. As it should be. We've been moving away from Christian Laws, but the fact is, we've based UK laws on some Christian values. Some of them still work so we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Religions shouldn't influence UK laws or have any official representation in UK Law.

@joannaennis7866 Even if Jesus existed as a man, it doesn't mean he was the son of God or was resurrected, etc. There's a possibility that God is made of pasta if you look hard enough for some evidence.

@gabemore1766 Nonsense. The Bible isn't a book of facts and its followers have predicted (and some even look forward) to the end times for centuries. Abrahamic religions are death cults of varying degrees.

Humanists have pushed for this for a long time. Religious courts should never be legal entities.

Sharia Law is not legally binding in the UK. The same as for Jewish Laws and some Christian law courts. Unfortunately, religions always want their stuff to impinge on other's lives.

@joannaennis7866 He's just a figure from your particular stories. Other stories have their heroes as well.

@thewatcheronthewall85 Destroyed? How did Atheism destroy the Christian country. Please supply details.
1
@hello150 Atheism is not a religious belief.

@zxq_5 The population has a 38% section that identifies as Christian. 52% has no religion. 3% other. 6% Islamic. Source: 2021 Census data.

@thewatcheronthewall85 We're still not secular, unfortunately. People sometimes still identify as Christian as they've been brought up that way. They may not go to church.
