That gas gauge arrow thing is useful to me a few times a year... on the car I've owned for 7 years. I refill so infrequently (I don't drive a lot) that I often forget. - Fun fact: Some electric vehicles are made with the charging port on the driver's side... which puts the charging cord handle at risk when doing curbside charging.

@ezrollergbg As am American driving an American car (probably assembled in Mexico?) I must tell you that there is NO organized rule on that. My car's fill is on the right side. I have had only one vehicle in the last 30+ years with a fill on the left side, and all of those vehicles were Fords, Saturns, or Volkswagen Beetles (the old ones, not the new ones). I think I once rented a Chrysler with a left-side fill. I had a friend whose car had the filler pipe behind the rear license plate. - The location of the fill/charge port is not a "laziness" or convenience factor, but a design decision that really needs to be rethought and standardized. And not put on the traffic side of the vehicle.
