Never had a bad experience with CO2, but I did work at an electronics manufacturer where they used nitrogen for part of the HALT/HASS (hot, cold, shake) testing. There was an undetected leak in one of the test chambers, which flooded our work area with high concentrations of nitrogen. Nitrogen, lacking sufficient air circulation as we did, will pool low and displace air that had more oxygen in it. The area DID have O2 level sensors, but they were mounted about 6 feet off the floor, and sitting at our workstations, our "breathing holes" were only about 4 feet up. They only realized and caught the problem when a couple of us fell out of our chairs having passed out. - At least it never got as bad as Mykl's example.

@NemoConsequentae Even more fun, the company's first "solution" was to open a window and place a fan blowing out into it. In January in Massachusetts. Of course, it was on-par with most of that company's decisions. The building previously housed a software maker/shipper (back when physical disks were the only way to get software). So the air conditioning and air flow were absolutely not up to par for five lines of electronics board manufacturing (each with a solder wave machine just pouring out heat). In the summer, they just opened the loading bay doors and set up fans, which let us bask in the aroma of the neighboring sewage treatment plant.

That first tow driver seems like an expensive employee for that tow company. Did he even check the vehicle weight and size versus his own vehicle's capacity before screwing around?
