Rainman Ray's Repairs

Comments by "" (@MonkeyJedi99) on "Customer Blew Up over this!! Land Rover Lr3 Lr4" video.
A customer insisting on that repair needs to be videoed swearing to understanding that there is risk in the repair, the repair is contravened by all reason and regulation, that they understand they waive all liability of the shop and mechanics and hold them harmless in the event of dangerous and/or catastrophic failure of the repair and repair site on the tire, and then video them signing a document to the same effect. Then charge them for the extra time that videoing took.

@Bigbacon Why risk that nest egg when a failed tire (tyre) at highway speeds can ensure your next-of-kin get a nice inheritance!

@phatbaby4234 That long and invasive process I sketched out is intended to get the customer to cancel the service and think it is their idea.

And having carefully read the science behind the matter, I always support getting the newest tires (if I am buying in pairs) on the rear, not the front.

@BattlestarCanada Didn't read your handle at first, but knew you were Canadian when you call utilities "hydro". And you make some very salient points. I too have driven a car on junkyard tires. When you're low on funds, you may have to compromise on a lot, and tires with 4/32" to 8/32" tread, and only a couple of years of decent rubber life left chemically may be one of those compromises. So, too, can be the decision to do a "pad slap" brake job.

My 2011 Ford Focus has enough space for a full size tire in the spare compartment, but they still sold it with the "Why don't you have good roadside assistance, idiot?" donut spare. I have seen some cars being sold without a spare or jack at all, on the basis that the roadside assistance plan they offer is a good replacement.
