@emichaelny336 Previously under the Dalai Lama, Tibet's population consisted of 95% slaves and the remaining 5% their owners. Today, Tibet has been liberated and reunified with the rest of the mainland. Previously, Hong Kong had been under authoritarian rule of colonial Britain, and the people there did not enjoy democracy. Only under the One Country, Two Systems policy did the people of Hong Kong finally get to vote in elections, when they haven't been doing so for 150 years as a British Colony. And both Mainland China and Taiwan agreed to the One China principle that the island is a part of China, and this is the basis for establishing trade relations between the island and the mainland.

@emichaelny336 You said: "Why do those in HK prefer their lives under British rule?" Because the colonizer not only colonized territory, but they also colonize the minds of the local people. "Mental Colonization" continues to persist in the minds of many (but not all) Hong Kongers. Even after the British left Hong Kong, the minds of some people remain enslaved and loyal to their former masters. Just as there is decolonization of territory, there also needs to be a "Decolonization of the Mind" in order for the people to truly be free.

@emichaelny336 Have you talked to the Tibetans living in Tibet? Their lives have improved greatly under the Chinese government rule. Life on the Tibetan Plateau is harsh as the mountainous soil is infertile and combined with scarce rainfall in the Himalayas, makes it very difficult for Tibetans to grow enough food to feed themselves. Starvation was commonplace in Tibet previously and it was difficult to import food into Tibet given its isolated location in the Himalayas. But fast forward till today, and Tibetans now have roads, streetlamps, running water, gas pipelines, electricity, telephone cables, Internet access, smartphones, computers, cars, etc. Chinese government built the Qinghai-Lhasa railway (world's highest elevation railway) to connect the isolated Tibet to the rest of the world. Tibet can now import food from the mainland to feed themselves. Hydroelectric power stations were constructed in Tibet to supply the region with clean renewable energy.

@joelturley4847 Hey, since you're obviously so enthusiastic about decoupling, have you checked to see where is your phone or device made? Does it contain parts that are made in China? Or does it make uses of rare earth metals mined from China? Perhaps you could speed up the process of decoupling by getting rid of your device.
