  1. Superb stuff - spent a great hour wandering round a frosty park in England listening this, many thanks. But if the English kids from inner cities are to won round then someone is going to have to show them directly what England is and why we think we have a different culture....start with different and we can work up to better ! Paintings and country houses are too far away from their "lived experiencd", to borrow their expression. I honestly don't know where to start but my guess would be something along the lines of: 1. Why does the UK have a royal family and French don't. 2. Why are the police mainly unarmed. 3. Why do we have more churches than mosques. 4. Why are we mainly protestant when we used to be Catholic 5. Why does it say "F.D." on our coins.(admittedly less relvant in cashless society... but most kids have coins in their pockets and they have the remnants of an enormous historic event on those coins). 6. Why is English the language of business and commerce around the world.
