Israel selected him and financed him, only because Ahmed Yassin was against the PLO and Yasser Arafat in the west Bank. So, Israel went with that age old principle of, My enemy's enemy, is my friend. As long as Hamas was working for Israel, they were not branded as a terrorist group, even by the West. Until Hamas went against Israel. Now Israel has vowed to destroy the monster they have created.
