Isn't it very telling that when 900 RN sailors are left to drown it was "probably" down to "good reasons", and yet when the RN is forced to abandon the survivors of Bismarck to their deaths due to a report of a submarine periscope they're labelled out of hand as "murderers" and "war criminals"? Even though they had stopped to rescue 111 suvivors and jettisoned countless rafts/lifebelts over board for those left behind before departing the scene. Whereas the Scharnhorst / Genisenau did not make even the most cursory attempt to give aid to drowning men. People should be more careful, they let their agenda show through without even realising.

@eddiecharles6457 The blame for the sinking of the 3 gallant ships, goes a LOT higher than the Capt of HMS Glorious, Guy D'Oyly Hughes. Search for "operation Paul".

There's a WHOLE deeper chapter regarding the sinking of the 3 gallant ships. Search for "operation Paul".

Contrary to the widely received wisdom that an inept "maverick" captain wantonly threw his command and 2 escorts away for little reason, there is a very curious parallel story to the sinking of Glorious and her escorts, that could potentially be connected to the sinking of the 3 RN ships. Search for HMS Glorious and "operation Paul". The HMS Glorious website (YT doesn't let me post links) is written by the grandson of the Captain of HMS Ardent who was killed when she was sunk gallantly attacking the 2 German battleships during this tragic episode.

Or, more importantly a national memorial for its crew, and those of HMS Acasta and HMS Ardent.

Don't fall for the cover story. It is possible that Guy D'oyly Hughes, in the run up to Glorious' sinking, was having his strings pulled from a VERY great height. There are potentially very serious reasons why Glorious had no CAP flying at the time, search for "Operation Paul".

No more than ANY other navy.

@RasmusDyhrFrederiksen I'm not saying that the British Admiralty covered itself in glory during this tragic "balls up", far from it...it did indeed shame itself with its apparent ineptitude, hence why the Admiralty enquiry into the whole episode was not due for disclosure until 2041... But without lowering myself to point scoring over the awful loss of lives and resources during wartime, I can quite easily name dreadful decisions & errors from all navies thorugh the centuries. All the best Rasmus.

Any examples? I'll assume you're refering to the "Laconia incident" which happened well over 2 years AFTER these events, and involved the USAAF and not the RAF / RN. Silly nazi sympathisers like yourself need to learn more history.

Strange how when the RN was forced to abandon the rescue of Bismarck survivors because of a periscope alert, they are "murderers", but when the nazis do not make even the most cursory efforts to aid 900 drowning RN sailors when no other RN units are present there's no shortage of apologists, excusing their abandonment to awful deaths. You idiots can't have it BOTH ways !!!
