The Guarantee of Polish borders by Britain & France in 1939 was NEVER seen as a promise of direct military aid to Poland? It was a "line in the sand" that had been drawn by Britain and France in the vain hope that the threat of a war against both Britain and France would by itself stop further German expansionism. The truth was that neither Britain or France were prepared for, or indeed wanted to resort to, war.

@andrewmckenzie292 The strategic aim of "Unthinkable" was to push the soviet forces back to their pre 1939 borders and NOT the total destruction of the USSR.

I know... with hindsight what an idiot.

Fascinating video overall. The use of that turd Trudeau to represent "communists in the west" was textbook stuff.
1
@andrewmckenzie292 The ranged forces of corporate globalism are currently intent on doing just that, to see regime change in Russia so that yet another WEF globalist puupet can be placed on the "throne" of the Russian Duma and they can then rape Russia's natural resource pool for the benfit of the "1%". All under the cover of "opposing Russian militarism".

Great video on this topic, of which I know quite a few details but not in this depth... I will certainly be reading Mr Walker's book on the subject. As I always say in various vids on YT that cover UK / Polish relations during the mid 20th century, when contemporary Poles / socialists whinge about "Britain's betrayal of Poland and eastern Europe after ww2", It's such a pity that instead of whinging from the safety of their keyboards 80 years after the event, that instead THEY were personally present on the front lines in the summer of 1945 ready and eager to lay down THEIR own lives for the good of eastern Europe instead of bemoaning that millions of OTHER people didn't lay down THEIR lives.

Yes the duped populations of the west are not supposed to realise that today's world troubles are a DIRECT result of spreading US hegemony.
1
You spoiled that post by the nonsensical "Churchill gave Europe away to Stalin" at the end?
1
Such a pity you weren't there in the front line in summer 1945, eager to lead the charge.
1
That's simply a matter of nomenclature... In a similar way that the rest of the world doesn't know the difference betyween "England" "Great Britain" and the "United Kingdom".

These things take time.

Why so certain it would have been a failure? The aim of "Unthinkable" was to return soviet forces back to their pre 1939 borders and not the destruction of the USSR itself. An horrific bloody catastrophe for sure, but if all the available pieces of western Europe military power had been harnessed its aims could have certainly been achieved. Luckily for Europe and its peoples the political will was not there.

@JDA2185 Russian divisions are like US or British regiments. Don;t get carried away with the numbers. Plus the USSR had only got where it was due to British intelligence and an unending supply mostly or US but also British war materiel & fuel. If that "tap" was turned off, the USSR would have held out for a couple of months and then crumpled, much like they would have done in 1942 / 43 if it hadn't been for the western nations.
1
@JDA2185 Read how Marshall Zhukov himself openly thanked the US saying that without US aid (and a sizeable proportion of British aid as well that went unthanked) he would not have been able to conduct operations against the Germans. The Red army easily overran its own resources, and was quickly shrunk after WW2 because of it.

You forgot the word "frontally".
