@Elizabethbaileysigmar I can agree! But some military equipment... better not to break :-)

95% of the time you just use your system and not bother with any of that stuff! :-) All you have to know is that: * / is your C:\ * /home is your C:\Users * /home/UserName/Desktop is your C:\Users\UserName\Desktop * /tmp is your C:\Windows\Temp * /mnt is your My Computer * /bin and /sbin is your C:\Windows\System32 folder (kind of) * /usr is like C:\Users\UserName\AppData (it contains applications installed for the current user only) Not hard at all :-)

Can you make a video about BSD systems? For example GhostBSD? * Why use it instead of Linux? * What is the difference? * A few tips?
3
I heard that GhostBSD is a user friendly distro. If you ever can say that about BSD :-)

@Doriandotslash It's more efficient just to use String.ToUpperCase() for both directories to compare them instead of comparing with every possible combination :-) Still takes time.

@damyr Don't worry! I'm an advanced Windows user and I broke Linux Mint (and Manjaro) a few times just trying to play around with it :-) But jokes aside - Linux is more reliable and it DON'T do what you didn't ask him to do! If you stopped this service - it will not run again by itself! I'm looking at you, Windows Updates! :-) This may help with that btw: https://www.sordum.org/9470/windows-update-blocker-v1-3/

@VV-wl8gb TimeShift is great for backuping! Simple and powerfull :-)

Want some good distros that support KDE? * Manjaro KDE (your current) * Kubuntu * Fedora KDE * Debian KDE * KDE Neon (rolling distro from creators of KDE Plasme itself).
2
Try Linux Mint - it's very comfortable and easy for new users :-)
2
@alephanull1953 :-) I just added a few more.

@michaelbrininstool4515 Oh! I remember DOS 5+. Early versions may be different. That's interesting!
2
How to get advantage of this? Answer - buy an SSD! Now everything is freaking fast! :-) And yes - Software Manager shows your where program keeps their files.

Try Linux Mint - it's very comfortable!

"There is always a way!" "You know da wei!" :-)
2
Maybe you will be interested in "cat" command too ;-)
2
Thanks! It was very interesting to read :-)

Your C drive is kinda like... root itself! But not 100% the same. So C:\Users\John\Desktop Will be in Linux: /home/John/Desktop

I know! My parents still use pen and paper! I'm using *.txt files if I want to write something (I'm 29).

That's not true as far as I remember! DOS had directories! You can't make them longer that 8 symbols but you could nest them :-)
1
It's not so simple in Windows. Enable "Show hidden files" and you will see many hidden folders everywhere :-) List of some obscure Windows folders: C:\Users\YourName\AppData C:\ProgramData C:\$GetCurrent C:\Windows (also is a big mess) C:\Windows\System and System32 (mess inside a mess)

True. Most things are very alike.
1
True! Linux still has that! You can still use it without any Desktop.

I also want to know. Is it THAT bad? It worked quite good. It has a free version now called "FreeDOS".
1
/etc is for system-wide configuration files (for all users at the same time) /usr is for current user (for every user it's own configuration files)
1
Reinstall the system! But now you have the knowledge!

Great comment!
