Ms. Hilsum (a sprightly 64 years young but still getting on in days - if I may be so bold) makes a point of telling us, in the first few seconds of the piece, Ms. Pelosi's age (or, at least, her 'octogenarian' status - a very agile 82 years young, in fact). Eh...why, exactly? Are not older people allowed to do things and get around and be up to mischief and be a nuisance and all that good, dangerous stuff like the young uns'? Or was Hilsum being sarcastic and taking a pop at Pelosi's critics and I just missed it? President Biden has also had some criticism because of his age. Now, even to me, Biden often looks as if he's 'feeling his years', to put it mildly. But when did it become cool to be ageist all of a sudden? I must have missed that meeting.
