  1. Other nations in the two great wars gained, while Britain lost. America got the empire, Germany got the industry, and Jews, although not a nation at the time, got Israel. We lost almost everything.

  2. Germans do not understand that the suit is our national dress, the ones I have met at least. In some countries the suit is called 'The Savile Row'. H.G. Wells would have been more accurate if he said England doesn't have a national food.
