In 1776 the South agreed that all men were created equal, but being a new very poor country, turning out slaves left from the British was impractical, and to unify the colonies, the issue was left to right itself over the next 50 years. 90 years later, the South had moved just inches toward TREATING all men equal. It was a good answer. The Civil War had so many reasons for existing, most of them stupid, she was trying to find out which ones he wanted to zone in on.
