@angelinarosario7279 The parents should explain your facts of life to them quietly before everyone arrives.
Kids are a lot more understanding than we often think, and if they're not, they're mercenaries.
I put my few extra dollars into running a private shelter for abandoned cats, and my mate palms a few dollars quietly to veterans when we see them struggling at the checkout counter to buy for their children.
Everyone in our somewhat large family knows this, and don't expect gifts from us. Like we would know what to buy them anyway!
We all have our own businesses that we built from nothing, except me - I sold mine and retired early, so as my sister said one year, "We all have everything we need, and more pretty junk than we have shelves for, let's just keep this gift thing to the young kids only, who can frankly mow some yards and buy their own silly PS5 video game thing."
I don't know if we're "progressive" or "old school", but here in the midwest, Christmas isn't about "scoring loot".
I know I often sound a little.... me, but I hope you find something in here that helps.
