  1. ​ @jacobhenworth-green2747 In WW2 Garands were first issued to No.1 and No.6 Commando for Operation Torch, in 1942. They were both Army units. 44(RM) Commando only got some Garands in 1945. When it was part of 3 Commando Brigade, with 1 Commando, in Burma. Also in Burma several 14th Army infantry batallions had M1 Carbines for their officers, radio operators and mortar teams.

  2. Probably 6.5mm. The IJA adopted 7.7mm as a result of combat experience in the 2nd Sino-Japanese War. And the semiautomatic rifle program was suspended when that war started.

  5. The Mannlicher-Schönaeur rifle, with the rotary spool magazine, wasn't just a sporting gun. Greece adopted it as their service rifle and carbine in 1903. And used them through the Balkan Wars, WW1, the Greco-Turkish War, in WW2.
