heck even proprietary mags would not be an issue if they where not expencive

@Eugene Stoner Im going to have to disagree, now personally i see no reason to buy a mini14 over an AR15 given that the AR is generally cheaper with cheaper mags and parts, but a good Mini14 is a solid gun, that being said there are an unfortunate amount of lemons out there from various bad lots.

@Eugene Stoner Its a good rifle for what it was intended for, a plain, cheep, basic rifle for use in the woods or around the property. I would say as a combat rifle as ive said before, the AR is a better option. but not everyone requires or wants a combat rifle. If a guys only priority is to shoot at coyotes around a ranch what happens at high round counts really is not a big deal

@OriginalBongoliath Every single one it seems

@Top Turf you see that makes sence, inflation adjusted thats like 650 bucks or whatever, for folks like me, who where however, born in 1998, these have never really had the "Cheap pricing" advantage at anypoint where we would even be able to own guns. Making the AR the obvious choice

@USSEnterpriseA1701 The thing is the M16 in initial trials preformed spectacularly even with attempted sabotage by folks in the armory system. The problems in Vietnam where not because the kinks where not sorted out, the problems in Vietnam where from cost cutting measures. If you take an airforce AR15 from 1960 and take a modern one, they will both pass the same reliability tests

@0neDoomedSpaceMarine I would have bought one if they where 700. all the ones in my local shops are 900-1200 and they wont budge the price a bit

Yeah arnt S&W revolver frames cast to?

Unfortunately peoples understanding of casting has been tainted by cheap throwaway items, when in reality well done castings should be very hard to tell from milled components.

Its also worth noting that modern M1a receivers are cast then have finishing done to make it not look that way. That casting is why a M1a is a 1300 dollar exercise and not a 2400 dollar one as is the original, aswell as the fact that the castings are done in Croatia For comparison company's that make forged M14s and receivers often charge around 1000 bucks for just the receiver, guns built on those start at 2k and go up from there.
