@blahorgaslisk7763 These where profoundly expensive and slow to manufacture, any solder given one was likely trained extensively and had the correct drills for loading attributed to muscle memory

@AzureRoseMarshal Yeah black power is a problem for muzzleloaders, and revolvers, breach loaders by their nature dont pack dirt back in the barrel like muzzleloaders do, the amount that can accumulate in the bore is limited by the diameter of the projectile, so really all that can be lost is accuracy, but its not going to turn to a bomb

@newlife9448 cost, fragility, or simply not knowing they existed

never hurts to check the inventory room!

It almost in that way reminds me of an M1 garand, which is really a front locking bolt action with a gas tube pushing a mechanical arm that cycles it for you

Its worth noting knowledge is cumulative, the people back then where not physiologically somehow less intelligent, they just did not have hundreds of years of accumulated information to work with when trying to solve a problem. I think your entirely right that the same inventors, born in the modern time with modern tools and information, would be the ones producing the forefront arms of our day

They likely dident know these existed.

Im just thinking about all the handfitting involved, and honestly, it was designed very efficiently for the manufacturing of the day, the designers very clearly paid mind not just to how to make it work but how to make it (comparative to what it could have been) easier to make

@MrBottlecapBill how where they layered in standing armys? pre rifled barrel guns where not the most accurate things, but i dont have enough archery experience to say an arrow would be better, so what rolls where typically asigned to which weapon?
