Someone further up the comments (who's apparently Chinese) said the literal translation of the slang name for it is "long bore box cannon". I think that fits perfectly! :P

This is not a back up gun. This is a primary assault weapon when loaded and an effective blunt force trauma weapon when empty. It may also be an excellent hammer if you're in a pinch, and it will most certainly derail the tracks of any armoured vehicle of the time if you throw it in the driving sprocket just right. In short: Ian is going to be penalized down to minus 11 rounds per loading if he shows up with this :P

@phil1606 Nope. Ian commented on it in one of the episodes where the breeze was catching it a little. It's a makeshift backdrop.
