Such a thing would sure call NATO's bluff, wouldn't it? It also shows that neither Putin nor any other senior Russian leader is the least bit afraid of anything the west has done or may do. That needs to change. Maybe a demonstration is in order. There is going to be a direct confrontation between Russian and NATO (read US) forces eventually so we may as well quit pretending otherwise and get on with it.
