  1. You hear this talk of "escalation" a lot and it's nonsense. Ask yourself this - Russia has been grossly underperforming since day 1. They are not gaining territory, they're losing it. If they had the capacity to turn things around, would they not already have done so by now? Russia can't escalate. They have nothing and nobody to escalate with. All of their best equipment.... which was never that great to begin with... is gone. They're using old crap from the 60s and 70s. Their logistics... again, never great, has broken down entirely but most importantly, Putin has pretty successfully concealed the truth about this war from his people so far. A general mobilization would see that evaporate. Instead of a general mobilization, he'd have a general uprising on his hands.
