This is SO important! People are so easily distracted by petty day to day developments when what they should be paying attention to are trends. I heard a young person say one time quite a while ago that older generations really ought to be nicer to young people because - "we're the ones who are going to be managing the nursing homes you'll die in." We could take that statement as some sort of thinly veiled threat but there is in fact, a lot of truth in it so I take it as a warning. I don't plan to spend a single day in a nursing home but if I do grow old here, I will be living in a world where those who are young today will be in control of every lever of power and every social construct. And what do the young of today want? Exactly what they're taught to want.... Socialism! Yes; a few of them will come to their senses as they mature but the proportion who do gets smaller and smaller with every passing generation. I'm not going to gamble my future on them.
