The reason we never see President Grandpa Simpson is because he's in his basement slurping pudding and being coached on how to get through a speech without nodding off or going off on some incoherent rant about something after which he'll need his diaper changed. That's why he needs a teleprompter. Crazy old coot can't keep two coherent thoughts straight in his head and at any given moment, he's about two seconds away from either a racial slur or a swearing session at people who aren't there.
