This, and the rapidly growing woke/cancel culture, are what's driving me out. It's not so much a money issue for me as comparatively, I'm not super wealthy and my tax hit isn't all that onerous. But each day when I look around and see what's coming, I know that I've got no place here anymore. My government hates me, half the population hates me and the younger generations blame me for everything that's wrong in their lives. And it is they who will soon be running the show, making the policies etc and it's people like me they'll be coming for. Furthermore, living among a populace who could actually believe that ANY politician or party is worth taking up arms against their neighbors for has zero appeal for me.

@aidankirby8412 I wholeheartedly concur. And as penance for our sins, I feel we owe it to you all to pack up our outdated, old fashioned values as well as our talents, our experience and most of all, our filthy, ill-gotten gains and leave you to the rotten, fetid, communist sewer you all so obviously and desperately want.

@jeffh3984 I'm ex-military so living out of duffel bags in strange places is nothing new for me. Not so for everyone, granted. Start slow, go somewhere for a month. Open a bank account with $1K, rent a small apartment, eat local food. In time, you'll get used to it and grow to like it. Starting is the hardest part.

@jeffh3984 My plan.. to the extent that I have one at all... is just to reduce everything in my life to the bare minimum, spread my money out... and just GO! I've been following several folks talking about what's called the "minimalist lifestyle" and, stay or go, it holds a lot of appeal. Basically it means that "stuff" brings you no long term satisfaction, can hold you back, costs you a lot of money, and so on. So I've been steadily ridding myself of anything that has no importance or that costs me more money than it's worth. You can't believe the feeling of freedom you get! I have one elderly parent left and when they're gone... so am I! Where? Don't know, don't care. Could be nowhere, could be everywhere. Might just slow travel my way around till the end of my days.
