If you're not a person who has experience with foreign countries / cultures, my personal suggestion would be to take a few short trips and see how you like things before taking the big plunge and calling the moving van. Just remember that when you're in a different country, you're in a different country. Don't expect things to be the same as where you came from. You will like certain things, others you will not but keep an open mind and most of all remember one thing..... it's YOUR responsibility to adapt to your new environment; not the other way around. We all know of times when foreigners / tourists rubbed us the wrong way in our own home countries. Well, don't be THAT person when it's you travelling abroad. You can turn people off and against you remarkably quickly and in many cases, not even realize you've done so. First impressions are lasting ones so make sure the one you make is positive because it can be very hard to undo it if you don't.
